German Spruce

The colours range from creamy white to light yellow and to red-brown. Its heartwood is not distinct from its sapwood. The grains are in straight patterns, and the texture is thin and regular. Resin canals are common. The wood is soft, low in weight and has medium density. It is slightly resistant to non resistant to decay. It is a easy wood to work upon are there are fewer knots present. It glues and finishes well due to its close pore structure.

Imported from Germany, Spruce is also called Whitewood.

K.D Pine

We are Importer and Trader of wide range of German KD Pine wood. We Import Scot Pine from Germany. Scot Pine wood stocks available throughout the year in Ghandhidham near Kandla Port Gujarat (India). It is highly used in commercial as well as domestic furniture. This pine wood can withstand different weather conditions such as monsoon, humid and hot environment. KD pine is best known in market due to its impact resistant nature, long service life, elegant look as well as termite resistant. It is also used to making flooring, windows and other furniture items. This wood is in high demand and is very cost effective in nature.

Spruce Log

Spruce is light and soft, but nevertheless has good strength and elasticity properties for its relatively light weight. It is not very susceptible to shrinkage and when dried remains stable. Its low natural durability can be compensated for by applying a protective coat of paint. It is less well suited to impregnation. Spruce can be worked with all tools and machines. It is easy to saw, plane, drill and sand as well as to slice or peel, to split or shred. Connections can equally be made using nails, screws or glue. It is straightforward to paint, less easy to impregnate, especially the heartwood. Spruce wood is available as round and sawn timber, as laminated timber and veneer.

White Ash

Heartwood is a light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast. Nearly white to light brown sapwood is not always sharply demarcated from the heartwood. Conversely, Red Oak tends to be slightly redder, but is by no means a reliable method of determining the type of oak. Grain is straight, with a coarse, uneven texture. Rated as very durable; frequently used in boatbuilding. Produces good results with hand and machine tools.

White oak is typically a dingy white to light tan to dark brown, depending on the species. The annual ring patterns gives white oak a heavy grain appearance. The heavy ray fleck adds character to the wood. The large pores in oak will present some of the same finishing problems that red oak, hickory, hackberry, and ash do. This wood is very unforgiving when gluing due to its high density. Surfaces must be flat, smooth, and freshly prepared. Clamp carriers are probably best for this wood. Any good woodworking adhesive can be used with excellent results. If we talk about maintenance then it is easier to maintain than any other hardwood. If you have installed ash wood for a dry area, then it will need at least maintenance.

White Oak

White oak, also known by its scientific name Quercus alba, is a strong and rot resistant wood commonly used because of its cost effectiveness. Very durable and resistant to the environment, it allows for great results when carving, either by hand or with tools. However, its high shrinkage value doesn’t allow for dimensional stability, and in contact with iron, especially if wet, it can become discoloured and stained.

White oak’s heartwood has a light to medium brown colour, and an almost white sapwood that isn’t always well-defined against the heartwood. Its grain is straight and coarse, with an uneven texture. The endgrain is ring-porous and it consists of around two to four rows of large earlywood pores and small latewood pores in a radial arrangement. The properties of some of these species are similar to each other while some are different from each other. Oak Wood is well known for being strong, hard, heavy, and dense with close grains. Therefore it is a good choice to make furniture, cabinetry, and flooring. Some oak wood has great properties of workability, durability, water, and decay resistance.

Oak wood is a type of hardwood that derives from the oak tree native to the northern hemisphere. There are around 600 species of oak, both deciduous and evergreen. North America has the most, with around 90 species being found there. Oak wood has been used as a hardwood timber for thousands of years, yet it takes up to 150 years before the wood from an oak tree can be used for construction. Modern uses for oak wood include homewares, flooring, wine barrels and firewood.

Oak wood is exceedingly strong, heavy and durable. It is an attractive light colour with a prominent grain and is resistant to fungal attack, thanks to its dense constitution and long-living nature, which must equip the tree for its long lifetime. While oak wood is very long-living, the trees do have an expiry date, and at URBANARA, all our oak products have been sustainably sourced, often using the wood of naturally fallen trees. Thanks to its durable and hard-wearing properties, we use oak for collections that require lasting materials, like for kitchen accessories and chopping boards, but also in our lighting collections to add an attractive natural aspect.

The shade of oak wood can vary from tree to tree and branch to branch. When a natural finish or oil is applied, the variations and contrasts of this gorgeous material shine, creating a beautiful natural feature in itself without the need for heavy ornamentation. Oak wood feels hard and smooth, depending on the finish.
